This role is not solely focused on power electronics—the candidate will also be actively involved in full audio system design, ensuring seamless integration of power solutions with signal processing, amplification, and overall system architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate across engineering disciplines, product line management, and global design partners on new product development initiatives.
Lead the design and development of switching power supplies, class-D audio amplifiers, and control loops, optimized for power levels ranging from several hundred watts up to 12kW.
Participate in all phases of New Product Development including creating technical proposals, aiding in product definition, product architecture, designing Professional audio products, prototype evaluation and testing, and helping with sustaining engineering activities.
Contribute to full audio system design, ensuring seamless integration of power electronics with audio signal processing, amplification, and control systems to create high-performance audio solutions.
Design and optimize power electronics systems using wide bandgap semiconductors (GaN and SiC) to improve efficiency, power density, and thermal performance.
Develop and refine control loops for self-oscillating class-D amplifiers, ensuring stable operation, high efficiency, and excellent transient response.
Define and implement high-performance power factor correction (PFC) circuits, including bridgeless totem pole, transition mode, and interleaved PFC architectures.
Implement and optimize converter topologies, such as flyback, LLC resonant, and full bridge converters, for high-power applications.
Ensure designs meet EMC, signal integrity, and thermal management requirements, adhering to compliance regulations and best practices.
Conduct power electronics modeling and simulations to ensure performance objectives are met.
Troubleshoot and resolve high-power electronics failures, using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D methodology.
Perform design verification testing and generate requisite reports and documentation.
Participate in design reviews covering schematics, PCB layouts, component selection, and overall system integration.
Mentor team members and contribute to expanding our design capabilities.
Qualifications: Our ideal candidate will have 7+ years in the following areas:
Working in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary design team, where mentorship and group design reviews are encouraged.
Design, simulation, and performance evaluation for switching power supplies and Class-D audio amplifiers.
Control loop design, including compensation techniques and stability analysis for switching power supplies and self-oscillating class-D amplifiers.
Experience with wide bandgap semiconductors, including GaN and SiC for high-efficiency, high-frequency power conversion.
Highly proficient in PCB layout for high-power applications, ensuring ideal switch behavior, power integrity, thermal management, and reliability.
Expertise in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium preferred).
Electromagnetic analysis, simulation, and troubleshooting for power electronics.
Familiarity with power integrity and signal integrity analysis for high-speed electronics.
Experience with embedded control for power electronics, including microcontroller-based power management and control loop design.
Strong design review practices of all design artifacts including schematics, layout, component derating, and BOM.
Familiarity with audio performance specifications, their implications on system performance, and how to measure these parameters.
Demonstrated use of electronics lab equipment in conducting the above activities.
