Position Overview:  

​​​​​​ Bose Professional is seeking a high-energy, passionate, and innovative Acoustics Engineer to work on R&D initiatives for our next generation of world-class professional audio systems.  In this role you will work across the organization, collaborating and iterating on product ideas, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, testing and sustaining.  

The Acoustic Engineer’s primary goal is to support product development of new loudspeaker products to meet schedule, cost, and quality goals. The Acoustic Engineer drives alignment with internal teams (product management, project management, mechanics, electronics, software, operation teams and others) and external teams (CM, tooling supplier and other tier 2 suppliers) to optimize designs and resolve engineering and manufacturing issues. This person builds strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and delivers analytical excellence to optimize product solutions. 

Initial tasks will center around supporting in-flight programs for sustaining and NPD initiatives on loudspeaker products. Over time the scope of the role will grow to include acoustic architecture and design for new loudspeaker products and accessories, with a focus on requirements & design documentation, simulation and modeling, and building/testing prototypes. The role will also require work with our safety and validation team to ensure regulatory compliance and long-term reliability goals are met. 

 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with a wide array of internal stakeholders to understand customer pain points and realize creative solutions. 
  • As a hands-on engineering practitioner, create rapid prototypes by leveraging our cross-functional engineering teams, outside engineering support services and specialized consultants. 
  • Analyze and interpret data from acoustic tests and measurements, get alignment on solution and conclusion on acoustic performance  
  • Perform significant acoustic design and define the appropriate acoustic system architecture, troubleshooting, and DFM experience specifically for audio products  
  • Troubleshoot hardware prototypes and verify all aspects of acoustic performance. Identify solutions to acoustic design issues discovered during design verification. 
  • Documentation experience, creating specs, BOM management, ECRs 
  • Create awareness of technology availability and product/project misalignments to drive collaborative resolution. 
  • Help prepare critical events review packages, such as Sample Build readiness review. 
  • Working in collaboration with CM Team, coordinate early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or complex new products, parts, and designs to optimize quality and meet product requirements.  
  • Handle Manufacturing acoustic testing specifying which tests are needed per new product, and how to validate new test setups. Develop plans to recover from issues that have arisen (risks that have been realized). 

Qualifications: 

  • B.S. in Acoustics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or similar (M.S. preferred) 
  • 2+ years of hands-on acoustic product development experience with loudspeakers, amplifiers, and professional audio equipment; transducer design experience is a big plus 
  • Solid understanding of loudspeaker, waveguide, crossover and transducer design/optimization techniques 
  • Experience using and interpreting results from acoustic simulation & design software tools such as MATLAB or COMSOL 
  • System mindset and architecture experience for audio products. 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English

  • Ability to analyze a multitude of technical issues and find effective, practical solutions quickly. 
  • Can work under pressure with multi-task and tight schedule. 
  • Directly address challenges using data and deliver results using sound analytics. 
  • Ability to effectively lead and facilitate meetings with cross functional teams and drive appropriate actions.
