Position Overview: We are looking for a self-motivated mechanical engineering student that has a passion for product development and is ready to work with a cross functional engineering team to turn concepts into production ready designs. A co-op in this role can expect to work on the design of loudspeaker parts, sheet-metal accessories, injected molded plastic components, and the product manufacturing process. Working knowledge of CAD software is critical and a mastery of statics, dynamics/vibrations, and mechanics of materials is required. A solid foundation in mechanical engineering design key concepts is preferred.
The Mechanical Product Design Engineer Co-op would be exposed to the complexities of the product development lifecycle. They will work with other mechanical engineers to design simple parts and loudspeaker accessories. The co-op will also perform and document engineering test plans and oversee mechanical lab planning and updates.
Key Responsibilities:
Support mechanical engineering team in the design of new products.
Significant number of 3D CAD tasks in SolidWorks: Creating 3D concepts for designs, parts and/or sub-assemblies and reviewing them with the team.
Creating documentation for new parts including P/N, drawings, and documentation.
Design of simple mechanical parts: plastic, sheet metal, hardware, or electronics.
Mechanical Lab physical product testing, building fixtures, writing reports.
Support Company objectives by completing additional tasks as needed
